How To Get The Most From Piano Lessons
Firstly, it is very important to establish a routine for both regularly attending lessons and practicing every day at home.
Don’t Miss Piano Lessons
Do all the homework that the teacher has given you, usually written in a homework book. This usually involves not only the homework given to complete for the next lesson, but also the teacher will give you notes and instructions on the work covered in the current lesson for you to read over and study and remember.
If You Are Just Starting Out With Learning The Piano
Make sure that there is preferably a piano at home practice on, or if parents want to see how their child goes, start off (for a minimal time) on a decent keyboard.
If the student is a young child, it is helpful for the parent to sit in on the lesson, so that they can hear what has been explained and practiced and will then be able to make sure that the child remembers what to do when practicing at home. Also it helps if the parent understand some music at least at the beginning when the child is very young.
Follow All Your Piano Teacher’s Instructions, To The Last Detail
She knows what she is doing. Always ask all the questions you need to ask, even if you have asked them before. The teacher doesn’t mind, she wants you to ask and to communicate with her.
This is very important, get to know your teacher as she will try to get to know you. Feel relaxed with her and enjoy coming to lessons. Learning music is a fantastic thing and you will get better and better and will start playing the songs you enjoy.
Once you are older and understanding your music better and have established a good relationship with your teacher, then have the lessons without your parent. You will have your teacher helping you with enough for you to follow all you need to know.
Don’t Get Lazy When It Comes To Piano Practice
Everyone feels that way sometimes, but if you stick to your practice, you will see just how much better and better you will become.
Stick To The Same Time Each Day For Practicing Piano
Practice exactly in the way your teacher shows you and explains. She will write most of it in your homework book.
Again, remember how important it is to ask your teacher in the following lesson, any questions, (as silly as you may feel) that you need to know the answers. This is the way that things start falling into place for you.
